When I first met one of the best photographers in my country, I opened the topic of photography subjects: "What is the best thing you can capture with a camera?". He told me, at that time, that "anyone who starts photography needs to experiment, and when time passes by, based on your passions, feelings, and interests, you will find a way to express in this way". He showed me his portfolio, and I felt enthusiastic about every piece that was present in there. He asked me which ones I like the most and I firstly pointed to some flower photos. He reacted saying: "Wrong! It steals your eyes because of the colors. There is nothing special about this photo, however this flower is special. The reason why you make a photo must be showing something else, something that people, normally, do not see!". Initially, I felt manipulated, guided by an authority. My decision was to capture absolutely all everyday objects that stole my eyes in my path.
After a while, I realized how barren my work was and understood the fact that capturing everyday beauties and show them to people is like yelling: "Moscow is the capital of Russia" - right, but everyone knows that! People need new information, things that don't let them get bored, stuff that attracts with it's complexity in a simple way. A macro is the best example of photography that shows something never seen by the human eye.
People who are attracted by photojournalism should seize the best moment, and those who are attracted more by the artistic side of photography should sight reality with the mind's eye. Everything I wrote here helped me, and I sincerely wish that it helps someone else, too!

All the best!

Very well put!  I live in a part of the world where the little thing IS the thing.  It has taught me to focus IN on the minute details of the things we see.  I have done free lance photography for various magazines that have come and gone in my neck of the woods, as well as being a photojournalist for the local newspaper for a period of time.  I hope some of my perspectives will be of use to the refinement of yours!  www.wiz2525.deviantart.com/gal…
